Access to quality life is dependent on two major things; higher education and high road employment opportunities. Our Community Colleges provide both of these. By strengthening the outcomes of our college campuses we not only improve the quality of life of individual residents but uplift entire communities.

The Candidate

  • Community Centered

    Dr. Gonzalez is on a mission to create colleges that understand the real needs of the students that they serve. This includes creating a community college system that aligns resources and addresses the basic needs of its students. Creating a safety net for our most vulnerable students is essential in improving outcomes.

  • Educator

    Dr. Cynthia Gonzalez is a former High School Principal with over 10 years of experience preparing high school students for post-secondary education and over 22 years of experience working in Los Angeles schools. Most recently, she was the Director of Pilot Schools, supporting 39 LAUSD schools. Currently, Dr. Gonzalez is the Director of UCLA’s Principals Leadership Institute where she prepares future k-12 administrators.

  • Leader

    Dr. Gonzalez is the current Vice Mayor for the City of Cudahy. In this role, she has focused her leadership on addressing families' basic needs. This has included supporting rent stabilization, developing a Keep Cudahy Clean campaign, and establishing partnerships with local schools and non-profit organizations. Improving safety and wellness through strategic alternatives to policing has been a pillar of her work.
